Termite Pest Control: 4 Steps to Successful Termite Treatment

Termite Pest Control: 4 Steps to Successful Termite Treatment
November 8, 2017 Cure All Pest Control

According to the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), termites in Australia cause over $100 million worth of damage every year. What’s even more disturbing is that 1 in 5 houses have termite damage and 180,000 homes annually are attacked by termites.

Brisbane is classed as a high-risk zone for termites because of our climatic conditions – termites love heat and humidity and are most active during the Summer months. This is also when the calls we receive from worried homeowners increase dramatically.

To combat the threat of termites Cure All has a specialist termite division called the White Ant Man, and we have successfully implemented our 4 step plan for termite treatment in many homes in Brisbane. Find out more about how we get rid of termites and protect your home.

Step 1: Assess and recommend

This is the first stage of our treatment plan and involves carrying out an assessment to detect termite activity and damage. We’ll also look at what treatment we can provide to deliver the most effective results – we know that each house is different and there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ solution.

Sometimes you aren’t even aware that there are termites in your home until you come across a weakened wall or a floorboard that gives way. Cure All are experts in locating where termite activity is situated in your house and revealing how extensively they have spread between your walls and floors.

One of the ways we do this is by using a Termatrac Termite Detection Radar system. This device allows us to find out exactly where the termites are without disturbing their activity or causing damage to your home. Though if termites are more difficult to detect, we may need to drill a small, discreet hole and insert a flexible scope to view and report on termite entry points or nests.

Step 2: Inspection and treatment of active termites

Once we’re given the go-ahead, we then perform a full termite inspection to identify where the termites are and where they’re getting in. We assess the damage with a more extensive investigation. In the meantime, before we arrive, it’s extremely important that you don’t disturb termites or their workings as it can speed up damage rather than prevent it.

The first stage of our treatment plan is to treat the immediate infestation and rid your home of termites, always a cause for relief to our customers. Our treatment methods of eradicating active termites include foaming, dusting, baiting and monitoring.

Step 3: Create a management system for protection

The third stage of our treatment plan is to put in place long-term control methods for termite prevention in your home. This ensures that your home is not only cured of the existing termite problem but that you’re also protected from any future infestations.

This may be done in the same visit as the foaming or dusting is taking place or at another scheduled time that is convenient for you.

We may create a chemical zone around the external perimeter of the property to deter termites that come into contact with it. We will also offer advice on how you can landscape your garden to discourage termites from coming near your house and hole up or fix typical termite entry points.

Step 4: Follow-up

After three months we come back to check out how our treatment plan is working and assess whether there is any further termite activity. Our treatment plan is warranted for five years and includes checkups every 12 months.

We hope this has given you some insight into how our 4 step termite treatment plan works. If you’ve discovered termite activity either inside or outside your property, or just want peace of mind – don’t delay, contact us for an inspection.
